Reflection on Inclusive Education
On Wednesday, the first day of attending the primary
school at Tebwanimwaneka throughout the two-week block teaching, 12th of
April 2023, I went to the upper-level classroom (year 6) as it was a place
where my lecture at KTC previously pointed me to stay at. I went in there in
order to discover further approaches on how a teacher instruct and facilitate
students, so they can accomplish the learning process. What procedures utilized
to gain student interest so it can attract their attention and can engage them
during class session.
First of all, before they begin their lesson, they
opened up with a short prayer accompanied with chanting Lord songs. They acclaimed
the Lord for his guidance and blessing throughout the previous days. When it
was over, their lesson begins. They were first ongoing with a warmup which is
the morning talk. Two boys and a girl who participated in this activity. Later
on, distributed students in groups to discuss and share their critical thinking
on the topic posted by a teacher. A lecture always included group activities as
he permitted students to control their own learning pace, where he only acts as
a facilitator to manage them and make sure they are on the right track.
Throughout the session, the teacher gives the best to
engage students in the activity. Absolutely they were well engaged as they
participated in every activity. After they finished their group activities,
they present their work in-front of their colleagues without fear and shame.
Always alert and respond to the questions posted by a teacher. They were
obedient and had good manners who wanted to be guided by elders. This was all
happened because their communication with their teacher is extremely
excellent.
Furthermore, there was a new strategy that I acquired after
my observation which empower the student to do well the activity. This
technique was recording scores when a student can answer and participate in the
activity. When a students take part in the activity they will gain score, but
it will be recorded under their teams. They did not want to loss scores so they
give the best they can, to do their work properly. This strategy contributed
the improvement and development of a child learning because they did not want
to had failure and loss points, so they performed well and prepared themselves in
participating in every task.
Therefore, from what I just saw during a teacher
delivering lessons to students, it influenced me and enlarge my capacity in
teaching so that I can do my best when I am becoming a permanent teacher in the
future. Showed picture of how to become a good teacher as he co-operated well
with his students, well prepared before attending a classroom and delivering his
lesson to understudies. Always give positive reinforcement when students answer
questions. He goes through the activity on the blackboard when the time was not
enough. However, this is a new strategy I just adapt from this teacher during
my observation.
