Journal 6

 

During Wednesday, 19th April 2023, there were no new topics they covered as it was a week of revision before the final exam comes. They opened up with a prayer accompanied with chanting songs before they start their revision on any subjects. The teacher was well clearly explained the topic they were revising. Give hints to students they will cover during the exam based on both Math and English subjects.

Gather all students in the middle of the classroom where he demonstrated in clearly details on sections, they will be covering during exam session the following weeks. The sections in Math consist of three which are section A up to section C and contributes 70 percentage total. The English consist of five sections which contributes 80 percentage altogether. Since the teacher well clearly explained the topics they will cover with sections, they were all aware of it. It seems that they endured, well prepared and alert before the forthcoming exam. He declared that he would equip the examination so they had better not worry but to study hard since all the topics they covered the previous days, will be impending on their exam.    

After giving hints to students, they both revise on some preceding note they formerly covered as it would prepare students particularly those who disregarded the topics before their upcoming exams. They were engaged and heeded carefully to what the teacher demonstrated. Later on, he scattered them in two groups (boys and girls) and expressed to them to generate songs based on formulas so that it could assist them and could memorized it certainly during the exam. When a group that derived with a spectacular song, they would obtain a prize. They tried their very best to find what song they will sing, but in the end, girls were the winner. They succussed as they could create a song while boys could not. So they won the prize. They will take their prize at the end of the session which is a candy except boys.

To conclude, this is a new strategy I absorbed from my associate teacher. Giving prize to students empowered and encouraged every single child’s ability, knowledge, and skills. Assist them so they could motivate their learning pace and critical thinking for the reason that they wanted to receive a prize and that could lead them to participate in every game or group activities they were supposed to participate in. However, this teacher had numerous strategy that I just adapt from him during my two-week block teaching. Also assist me as I gained more ability and capability in facilitating children and that I can apply it in the next block teaching.
